It’s Never Too Early…

To drink coffee with Nana, or is it? πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

To share secrets with your bestie πŸ‘

Or to fall asleep during a walk (seriously Lucy, it’s never too early for that ☺️)

Grateful: For taco salad. It’s healthy (well it’s got veggies), easy to make and pleases just about everyone! It’s clearly what we had for dinner tonight πŸ™‚

Why Is It That…

I spend half my day throwing away dirty diapers? I find them thrown about throughout the house. They’re rolled up (we’re not that gross – most the time..) but still, why don’t we throw them away right when the mess happens? Maybe because we have a squirmy, easily distracted 6 month old? Yea, perhaps.

I wake up every morning excited to head out and buy my daily cup of Starbucks (with Lucy tucked into the carrier), but oftentimes get home and totally forget about it until it’s chilled to the core?! Funnily enough I’ve noticed I don’t get around to drinking it until Lucy is down for a nap… Hmm I think there’s a pattern here πŸ™‚

I dress Lucy in weather appropriate attire and only once I’m out the door do I notice I’m decked out in summer gear when it’s 50 degrees outside?! I’m thinking it has something to do with the hustle and bustle it takes to simply get out the door with a baby (do I have a paci, bottle, toys, blanket, diapers, etc – all while she’s screaming her head off because I’ve dared to turn my back on her :p). By the time it’s all said and done, we’re outside and I’m surrounded by people dressed to the nines (we are in London, afterall) and legit winter coats, scarves and hats on. Then it dawns on me how crazy I look. I don’t care that much, but maybe a little πŸ™‚

And just because this little lady has my heart, here’s a couple cute pics! #MomLife #CantStop #WontStop

How Cool Are We?

We got this whole selfie thing DOWN.

Ha. Someday we’ll be cool. Someday.

Grateful: For the construction worker who saved the day! Lucy and I went to get coffee this morning only to realize we were locked in the apartment. The keys had been left in the door from the outside (oops!). Geo called down to the man who was on the street and voila, he came up and we were saved!! Phew, close call.

Yes, I slept in the dress I wore all day.

Friday night was:

A screaming baby from 8 to 10 pm.

A screaming baby from 1 to 2:30 am.

A screaming baby from 4:30 to 6 am.

Saturday day was:

Feeding baby.

Travel.

Sightseeing.

Shhing to sleep.

Playing.

Repeat x 4.

Saturday night was:Β

A screaming baby from 6 pm to 9:30 pm.

So yes, as my little one (Lucy who is now 6. 5 months old!) finally fell asleep on top of me I quickly realized I would not be changing into my comfy pjs (aka: an oversized t-shirt) but would instead be sleeping in a pull-over dress I’d worn all day; one that had spit-up, drool and snot from a sick baby on it. None of that bothered me though, it didn’t even make me flinch. All that mattered was Lucy was comfortably sleeping and that meant mama would be doing the same, shortly (minus the “comfortably” πŸ™‚

*Warning: Sleeping in a wire framed bra is not recommended. #ow

Grateful: For how wonderful this little one was during our 3 hr+ car ride home today. Making mama proud.

Things around here

So last weekend I finally checked “organize the cabinets” off the to-do list and boy does it feel good. It was one of those things that needed to be done, badly, but I kept putting it off becuase I knew it’d be a huge project and it was, it really was. By the end of it I was exhuasted and maybe even a little grumpy, but mostly I was just relieved. I’m pretty happy with the end result and especially excited about my “go-to” draw that has one of everything that we use on a daily basis. Now rather than going from one drawer/cabinet to the next for those regular, just the two of us meals we can just go to one.

Later in the week I decided it was time to pull out the holiday decor and wow, I did not hold back!

Lastly, my sister and I came home from dinner to finish our gingerbread house… only we couldn’t because half of it’s roof was mysteriously missing! Mr. Bates, you look rather guilty! πŸ™‚

The name game

When I found out I was pregnant my thoughts and concerns leaned towards my health, the baby’s health, the labor, how active I was going to stay, my diet, what I’d wear, and blah blah blah. Never did I imagine that choosing a name for our baby would become the main “thought” and “concern.” At almost 27 weeks preggers we’re still up in the air about names. We made a mistake, a very rookie mistake… we told people about the names we liked.

Never. Again. :p

Here’s our top contenders:

GIRL: Evelyn, Riley, Madelyn, Adalyn, Adeline, Eleanor, Edytha, Cora or Maeve

BOY: James, Sawyer, Finley, Eivan, Miller or Rowan

Feedback from our family and friends on some of those names:

Evelyn – “I knew an Evelyn back in college – she was a stripper.”

Madelyn – “That’s a really popular name. I know at least 3 of them.”

Maeve – “Hmm. Cute.” (super convincing…)

Sawyer – “Sawyer Schwartz – that’s a tongue twister.” Person then proceeds to say the name in a drawn out, mentally handcapped fashion… great.

Finley – We both love that name but it’s the name of my best friend’s dog – is that weird?

So, anyone have any names for us to add to the list? We’re struggling here!

And yes, we know many of our names are also on the 2015 top list of baby names. We like what we like and clearly we’re not unique in those likes!

And just for fun… my body is changing and I’m doing my best to embrace it. (My best is sometimes hiding my boobs and belly in all black, or as my brother called it the, “moo moo” look).

Happy Birthday to Me

It’s official, I am 30 years old. Yikes. With that comes a 30 year old face, one that seems to be much more willing to welcome little lines and age marks that are doing a wonderful job of freaking me out. I’ve never had beautifully smooth or blemish free skin but over the last couple years I’ve definitely noticed an increase in wrinkles, just little ones but still they’re there staring at me in the mirror.

So when I saw that Joanna Goddard (one of my favorite bloggers) posted about her favorite anti-aging cream products last week I decided it was fate intervening, telling me it was time to hop on the bandwagon and start investing in my skin (aka – I’m a huge sucker and saw my bday as an opportunity to splurge on myself).

Olay, please don’t disappoint, this face needs a little love!

In other news, this weekend I made this amazing soup for the second time around. Sharing it because it’s delicious AND easy to make – not always an easy combination to find. Go make it, I promise you won’t be disappointed.Β Ina knows whats up!

What I saw vs. What was real

So I took these photos out of pure frustration. I was annoyed with how messy our kitchen was and wanted to document the moment to, a. show geo and make him feel partly responsible (bad on me, I know), and b. share with my Β little blogging audience how messy my life can be. I had every intention of sharing the photos and bitching about my how quickly our little home gets dirty.

But then I downloaded them and took a closer look… and that’s when I realized, wow, it’s not really that messy its just LIVED in. Its the remnants of my husband and I eating breakfast together, me baking muffins for the week and us having a LIFE together – that’s all. Life gets messy and thats OKAY. Future self, repeat after me, LIFE gets messy and thats OKAY πŸ™‚

PS. Mini 3D corgis – sign me up! But really, these could be terrific stocking stuffers πŸ™‚ Corgi Love

Are We “Glowing” Yet?!

I’ve been introducing more vegan styled meals into our diet not because I want to necessarily go full-blown vegan (I’m too in love with ice cream!) but because we just don’t eat enough veggies, grains and/or fruits. I figure that having some solid, all natural recipes up my sleeve will help solve this problems and so far it’s been super easy to do because of the cookbookΒ Oh She Glows by Angela Liddon. What’s great about vegan meals is that many of the snacks, dessert, breakfast recipes use the same products but in different ways. You have to build up a supply of the more random items, for me they were: brown rice flour, agave nectar, chia seeds, ground flax seeds and things along those lines. Once you have those ingredients it’s very simple to whip up something like, Chia Seed Doughnuts that were really good – even Geo thought so, and he can be a tough audience!

3
Chia seeds, oat flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, vanilla extract, maple syrup and soy milk. It literally takes 5 minutes to prepare and then you stick them in the oven.

Or a Green Monster Smoothie, which is how we’ve been starting our mornings the past couple days.

2
One frozen banana, kale, peanut butter, soy milk, 2 ice cubes, vanilla extract and flax seeds. DELISH.

I’ve also made a number of her dinner meals and desserts, the avocado cream pasta is one of my faves! Off to make a batch of doughnuts for my MIL πŸ™‚
