fast! Time is flying these days and I’ve been wanting to take a minute (for weeks now) to just write down some of my favorite things lately 🙂
So here goes…
Today Geo was holding Lucy at my mom’s, she squeezed him tight and said “You’re the best Daddy,” it was the sweetest moment, one in which Geo obviously melted.
More Lucy things…
After successfully reaching for her lovey in the car she said “I so proud of me”
“Bye new house!” “Bye bank!” “Bye post office!” and so on – it’s the cutest.
“How are you Mumma?”
“I love school SOOOOO MUCCH” “I love my paci SOOOOO MUCH”
“I gonna dream of butterflies”
Grace is beyond adorable. She’s 7 months this week she’s just perfection. The smiles are nonstop. And her new favorite thing is feeding herself.
Life is so good these days. Geo and I are exhausted, miss our time alone and can’t wait to have a night in November where “Ganna” is going to take the girls but we are honestly just soaking in this time as a family. And maybe starting to think about expanding it… 😉
I love nights like these when we’ve eaten early, everything is cleaned up and Geo and I get to spend time together… real time, not just bleary eyed, half asleep time. He’s coming up to bed soon and we’re going to finish off the weekend watching 30 Rock, our new favorite show! So I don’t have too much time to chat about but I thought I’d share my phone pics from the weekend – there are some real winners!
Friday, when I was desperately trying to get some work done and Lucy was desperately trying to help…
Lucy’s new favorite game at Nana and Da’s house is to race over to the stairs and climb them. She’s been hearing a lot of “No no, Lucy” 🙂
Yep, that’s what happens when dirty hair has been in a bow all day!
THIS is happening next weekend. I. Am. So. Excited. 🙂
My mom and I went to the NICE – Natural Infant and Child Expo in Plymouth on Saturday and came across this vendor. YIKES. I sometimes drink those Vitamin Waters and was SHOCKED to see that many sugar cubes next to it. It really forces you to question what you’re putting in your mouth and/or feeding your kids.
And this was me this morning trying to get ready for the day. Lucy insisted on doing each and every part of my morning routine WITH me. Yay. :I
Grateful: For lots of time spent with family this weekend and a nice dinner with my parents and bestie! 🙂
everything can be thrown to complete shit but as long as I’ve done a load of laundry I feel like I’ve had a successful day?
There is literally no better feeling than putting a load of laundry into the washer… pure happiness.
And yes, this is truly what my hair has looked like all afternoon. Thank god for my non-judging neighbor and for a daughter who’s not old enough to roll her eyes at me (yet!).
One other thing I need to make note of is… George is watching The Bachelor with me! Yep. It’s happening and it totally made my day (that and getting some laundry done :p). Today was a busy, tiring and stressful day for me but it was really nice to end it watching stupid tv with Geo and being silly – I’m thinking we need more of these nights!
Grateful for: A quiet and sweet moment with Lucy this morning. Early day snuggles are the best!
was wonderful. I was excited to visit friends and family but what I hadn’t realized was how nice it would be to be back in my comfort zone. I absolutely love London and have whole heartedly embraced our way of life here but it was really calming to be back by the sea, by our friends and family and in a town that we’ve very much made our home.
One thing that wasn’t so wonderful was how I spent much of my time there…
work work work.
But there were many moments that were pure bliss. Here are a few of those 🙂
Grateful: For a mellow, relaxing Sunday. Breakfast out, followed by lounging at home, grocery shopping together and some cooking. It doesn’t get much better!
Grateful: For the construction worker who saved the day! Lucy and I went to get coffee this morning only to realize we were locked in the apartment. The keys had been left in the door from the outside (oops!). Geo called down to the man who was on the street and voila, he came up and we were saved!! Phew, close call.
So last weekend I finally checked “organize the cabinets” off the to-do list and boy does it feel good. It was one of those things that needed to be done, badly, but I kept putting it off becuase I knew it’d be a huge project and it was, it really was. By the end of it I was exhuasted and maybe even a little grumpy, but mostly I was just relieved. I’m pretty happy with the end result and especially excited about my “go-to” draw that has one of everything that we use on a daily basis. Now rather than going from one drawer/cabinet to the next for those regular, just the two of us meals we can just go to one.
Later in the week I decided it was time to pull out the holiday decor and wow, I did not hold back!
Lastly, my sister and I came home from dinner to finish our gingerbread house… only we couldn’t because half of it’s roof was mysteriously missing! Mr. Bates, you look rather guilty! 🙂
Meetings, driving, work, repeat. That has been my week and boy am I excited to relax (kind of) tomorrow 🙂 My little sister is visiting Geo and I this weekend. She’s 9 yrs old so we’re planning on doing some geocaching with her, maybe some baking and then ordering chinese food (her fav) for dinner. Sunday I think I’ll pamper myself for the day while George plays in a frisbee tournament – it’s going to be a good weekend. What are you up to?
My thoughtsare with Paris tonight. What has happened there is horrible and there really are no words to descibe how I feel about it. As George put it earlier tonight, “This is not the world I want to bring our children up in” and I couldn’t agree more.
My birthday is on Monday! Eeks. The big 3-0!
My lovely husband started my birthday weekend early and surprised me with flowers and two gifts that I’ve had my eye on. A Madewell tote that I fell in love with two years ago and the new Mary Louise Parker memoir that I heard about on NPR just yesterday – can’t wait to dig into it.
My new favorite show is the Netflix Series, Master of None. It’s smart. It’s witty. It’s real. It’s created by Aziz Ansari – enough said, right? If you’re in need of a new show, this is it.
My mom is all about saving the bees and I couldn’t help but think of her when I saw this 🙂
